Korean Spicy Braised Tofu
(두부조림- Dooboo Jorim)

Preparation & Cooking Time:
- 30-40 min (including Pan Frying the Tofu)

Ingredients:
- 1 Whole Firm Tofu
- 4 Tablespoons – Cooking Oil
- 1 Teaspoon – Salt
- Spicy Sauce:
- ½ Onion – Chopped
- 3 Scallion – Chopped
- 1-2 Korean Red Chili Pepper – Chopped (optional)
- ½ Cup – Soy Sauce (feel free to mix light and dark soy with a bit of teriyaki and oyster sauce)
- 3 Tablespoons – Lakehouse Farms 100% Organic Korean Chili Pepper Flakes (Gochugaru)
- 1.5 Tablespoon – Minced Garlic
- 1.5 Tablespoon – Sugar or Honey
- 1.5 Tablespoon – Sesame Oil
- 3 Tablespoons – Korean Cooking Wine (맛술 optional)
** This sauce is very versatile and can be used with any vegetable, meat and seafood

Direction:
- Rinse the tofu and let it sit to drain out the water
- Pat dry then cut it in half then slice into 1/2 inch thick pieces
- Pat dry the sliced tofu and lightly salt
- Pan fry sliced tofu until golden medium brown
- Prepare the sauce
- Spread a thin layer of the sauce in the bottom of a deep frying pan
- Then spread another layer of the sauce on top and repeat
- Pour ½ – 1 cup of water, close the lid and bring to boil (Be sure to lift the bottom layer of tofu with spatula occasionally to prevent burning)
- Uncover the lid and lower the heat for 3 minutes and let the sauce get absorbed into the tofu and thicken
- Serve with rice and enjoy
